Cataclysm Worgen Leveling Guide 1-85

If you intend to start the game fresh and decided on playing the Worgen, you’ve come to the right place. As they’re the newest race to join the myriad of options in the World of Warcraft, there may not be a lot of information on them as of yet. However, I’m going to try to give you the low-down on everything you need to know from the first quest till you take the portal to Darnassus at the end.

Basically, you start off as a human which hasn’t been turned into a Worgen. From there, you’ll start finding out their origins and how they’re implemented in the World of Warcraft. You’ll start at level 1 in the city of Gilneas which is pretty much your home city which you’ll be seeing until you’re at least level 10. If you’re absolutely new to the game remember to speak to guards and ask where key locations are such as Flight Paths to taxi around.

Prince Liam provides 3 simple quests which can be completed close by to him.

Evacuate The Merchant Square
Knock on 4 doors to civilian homes on the area marked on your minimap

Look around for 4 Supply Crates which are brown boxes around Merchant Square.

Royal Orders
The last quest of the chain, head to the southern end of the city called the Military Quarter and search for an NPC named Gwen Armstead.

Someone’s Looking For You
Here’s where you speak to your Class Trainer where you’ll constantly be returning to to learn new spells and skills.

Safety In Numbers
You’ll need to seek out King Genn Greymane somewhere in the Military District. Press the Map button default “M” to see an indicator to where he is.

Time To Regroup
You’ll have to head back to Greymane Court to the west of the map, once again you’ll need to speak to King Genn Greymane.

You’ll be on a horse again but you won’t be controlling it. You just need to throw the flares at the Worgen around you.

Worgen Classes – Which Class Will You Play?

index Worgen Classes Which Class Will You Play?In the past, if you have ever quested in Silverpine Forest you will be extremely familiar with the Sons of Arugal mobs that show up to end your pleasant questing. Unexpectedly dying to them was my first introduction to the Worgen race years ago and to be perfectly honest, I hated them, but only until Cataclysm was released and I overcame my initial judgments. Since then I have found the Worgen race quite fun to play.

Out of the ten playable classes in game, Worgens are able to choose from eight of them, including Mage, Rogue, Warlock, Priest, Druid, Warrior, Hunter and Death Knight. Since Worgens were once humans themselves, they have managed to retain many of the skills they learnt and practiced before the outbreak. This explains their ability to choose all original classes. However the Death Knight and Druid classes have specific storylines of their own and I won’t spoil it for you should you be interested in playing and finding it out yourself.

That said, picking a class to play your own Worgen with should be based on what you like or know. Personally I enjoyed playing my own Rogue Worgen because in terms of PvP their racials were advantageous and I really had fun sneaking up on unsuspecting victims and sharing my pain. Overall, the Worgen race was absolutely well made and fun to play from start to max level. While looking very fearsome, only once you begin to play your own Worgen will you “bond” and learn all the quirks and perks of playing one.

Worgen Racials – What Do They Have Which Others Races Don’t?

worgen racial Worgen Racials What Do They Have Which Others Races Dont? The Worgen race has six total racial abilities, with three of them being passive abilities. Having played a few different Worgen classes so far, I have found their racials to be pretty good, especially in PvP, but don’t discount them in PvE either.

First there is the Darkflight ability which increases movement speed by 40% for 10 seconds. This can be immense in PvP situations both for getting the jump on an enemy or escaping a potential gank. Essentially, it either gives you a huge movement boost OR counteracts movement speed reductions cast on your character. It has a 3 minute cooldown which is decent and so will have to be used at the most opportune moments.

The other two active abilities are Two Forms and Running Wild. Running Wild serves as the Worgen racial mount allowing you to transform and increase movement speed equivalent to any other mount in game. Two Forms on the other hand is the skill that you eventually learn that enables the Worgen Race to transform into either Human or Worgen form. You will automatically revert to Worgen form anytime you enter combat. Something worth noting is that before you gain the Two Forms ability, you can type “/transform” to transform between either forms.

On to the passives: Flayer is the passive racial that increases skinning skill by 15 points while allowing you to skin beast 0.5 seconds faster than usual. This is especially useful when leveling as it saves time. However, it is equally useful end game in terms of making money or crafting your own Epic gear especially for Rogues and Hunters as the cost of end game materials is much higher than in previous expansions.

Aberration is the second passive ability that gives resistance to both Nature and Shadow damage. So for all the Rogues out there who just love ganking pesky Warlocks, Aberration will definitely add salt to an open wound.

Finally we get to my personal favorite Worgen racial called Viciousness. Not only does it sound amazing, it increases your critical strike chance by 1%. If you think this doesn’t sound like much, think again as every single percent counts for a lot both in PvE and PvP especially if like me, you are the competitive type. In PvE having an extra 1% chance to crit can be the difference between being first on the damage meters or second. In PvP it goes without saying that crtting often is not only extremely useful, but also incredible fun to see. After all who doesn’t like smashing a crit on an enemy and seeing a huge number appear on screen.

Worgen Leveling – Advantages Of Playing a Worgen

For more information on a Worgen leveling guide which can guarantee lightning fast easy leveling, Click here.

The first few levels of the Worgen race is fairly interesting as you’ll be able to actively participate in the town’s civil war between worgen and humans. Upon completion, your character would then become a Worgen and sent to Duskhaven, before the Forsaken invade Gilneas. If you’re starting out as a Death Knight, there will be a little difference in the cut scenes during which Knight Commander Plaguefist insists you bloody your blade on a prisoner.

As a Worgen, you’ll be able to choose between a Death Knight, Druid, Warrior, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue or Warlock as your class. Of course, the differences in how their Racial Abilities will be useful is noticable. I’ve listed a few of the confirmed racials below:-

Darkflight (3min Cooldown)            – Activates your true form, increasing movement speed by 70% for 10 seconds

Viciousness (Passive)                         – Increased critical strike chance by 1%

Aberration (Passive)                           – Reduces the duration of curses and diseases by 15%

Flayer (Passive)                                     – Skinning skill +15 and skinning takes 0.5 seconds less

Two Forms ( 1.5sec Cooldown)       – Swaps between human and Worgen form

Running Wild ( 1.5sec Cooldown)   – Race equivalent of a mount.

As you can see from their Racial Abilities, they have equally significant strengths whether in a PvE or PvP environment. Probably the only purely PvE skill would be the Flayer which affects the profession and has nothing to do with player advantage unless considering monetarily.

If you intend to level a new character specifically as the Worgen race in the Cataclysm expansion, be sure to check out this fountain of information about it at Worgen Leveling Guide to find out the speediest way to leveling one.

Worgen Origins – How Did the Worgen Come to Azeroth?

Worgen are the upcoming Alliance race which will be available in the Cataclysm expansion. There being a lot of hype about it, a lot of the information behind why the Alliance gets the ferocious looking race and not the Horde is fairly interesting. The reasons behind it were that the Alliance initially never had a truly bestial or aggresive looking race. In The Burning Crusade, Blizzard had tried to fix that by providing the Alliance Draenai which were huge, broad shouldered but it turned out they were gentle giants.

With the Worgen, a truly fearsome looking race was finally given to the Alliance with the Goblin counterpart to the Horde. For starters, their background begins where they used to have been a druid sect which were known as “Druids of the Scythe” who worshipped the great wolf “Ancient Goldrinn”. Other than the cat, bear, treant and moonkin forms, they were able to shapeshift into worgens. However, due to the form’s savage nature, the druids became more and more feral.

Because of this, the other druids had agreed to lock the specific sect away by placing them under a spell which meant an eternal slumber. This of course did not last for very long as someone or something under the pretense of “Elune” had granted the “Scythe of Elune” to Velinde Starsong who was at the time fighting a war for control of Felwood and Ashenvale against demons.

The weapon allowed her to channel energy to weaken time and space, making it possible to summon worgen to her aid. However, with time the scythe was able to continue summoning worgen even without her intervention. At this point, the worgen were still under her command and she had ordered as many of the packs as possible to remain at the Shrine of Mel’Thandris. Looking for a solution in the libraries of Darnassus as well as consulting with Onu in the Darkshore, she had heard whispers from a Kirin Tor wizard named Arugal whom had also summoned Worgen.

As Velinde was uncertain of the magics involved, she decided to consult Arugal for help. Unfortunately, upon arrival in Duskwood, she had completely disappeared. Most some say that she may have been summoned into the worgen’s realm and some others claim that she may have simply died and her corpse devoured by the unsavoury denizens of Duskwood.

The Scythe itself, was then picked up by a man only known as Jitters, which then triggered the effect of worgen summoning again. Jitters had managed to escape their clutches but was continously hunted by the worgen through the woods. In an attempt to escape, Jitters had disposed of the weapon in the Yorgen Farmstead where he had met the Black Riders of Deadwind Pass. The Black Riders, believed to be agents of Morbent Fel then murdered Sven Yorgens family as they were unable to locate the scythe.

Until now, Jitters remains in Duskwood’s Raven Hill. Praying neither Worgen, Black Rider or Scourge may find him as the darkness from the curse of the scythe lingers. Nobody knows if the Scythe of Elune was recovered.
